PRAYER, LONGING FOR FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS

Psalm 59:16 But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.

“When I was young I began a life of prayer, God had awaken my soul. I didn’t pray because I wanted certain things from God but I wanted to be with God. I wanted to be near God. I was homesick for Jesus. I was longing for fellowship with Jesus. The world didn’t satisfy me, it tried to tear me to pieces. But I found a foundation, a well of living water waiting to satisfy my thirst.

I didn’t get it in my church, that’s the strange thing. My church was very dry and very dead. I didn’t get it there. I got it from Jesus Christ. And to this day I’m at the fountain. To this day I wouldn’t dare to nor would I care to live any other way but to live at the fountain. And that’s why I recommend a life of prayer.

Not the kind of prayer to get power or because it’s customary or anything like that. Real prayer is a lovership, a Holy Ghost love affair, with God who loves us, Oh how He loves us.” Hans R. Waldvogel

Oh Lord when I arise may the first thing that I see,
be the four and twenty elders as they praise and worship Thee
And let my heart join right in, and let my voice begin to race,
singing worthy, worthy is the Lamb as I melt all cares in your grace.
Greg Snavely

“Prayer is not monologue, but dialogue. Gods voice in response to mine is its most essential part.” Andrew Murray

THE DEEPER LIFE IS TWO THINGS, PT 2

Hebrews 6:1a “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;

“First, the deeper life is the forsaking of the world.”  A. W. Tozer

“Many years since, I saw that without holiness no man shall see the Lord. I began by following after it and inciting all with whom I had any intercourse to do the same. Ten years after, God gave me a clearer view than I had before of the way how to attain it, namely, by faith in the Son of God. And immediately I declared to all, ‘We are saved from sin, we are made holy by faith’ This I testified in private, in public, in print and God confirmed it by a thousand witnesses ” John Wesley

“It’s never possible to forsake the world in spirit and not forsake it in reality.” A. W. Tozer

The world with wanton pride
Exalts its sinful pleasures
And for them foolishly
Gives up the heavenly treasures.

Let others love the world
With all its vanity;
I love the Lord, my God—
What is the world to me?

1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

FAITH GLORIFYING GOD

Romans 4:20 He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

“The one thing that mattered to Abraham is that it is God who had spoken. He gave glory to God. There is nothing so insulting to God as not to believe Him. And that’s the terrible thing about unbelief is that it’s an insult to God. Faith is that which always glorifies God. Faith is to believe God simply and solely because He is God. Nothing glorifies God more than this. Nothing is so insulting to God as not to believe Him. The severer the test the more difficult the situation, if they still go on looking to Him the greater the extent they are giving glory to God.

Faith is ultimately that which gives glory to God by seeing the truth about Him and trusting utterly and absolutely at all cost, that is faith. That was the faith of Abraham. And it is one of the gtreatest descriptions of it in the whole Bible.” Martin Lloyd-Jones, sermon, Faith glorifying God

Father of Jesus Christ, my Lord,
My Savior and my Head;
I trust in Thee, whose powerful Word
Hath raised Him from the dead.

EVERLASTINGNESS

John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

“There is a great something inside of me that appreciates everlastingness and that great something won’t be satisfied without it. It looks and says “that’s what I want.’ Not religion nor philosophy nor civilization you can trace it back, it’s recent. That’s all recent, you can trace it back to it’s beginning.

My animal nature wants something recent but my deep heart wants something eternal. So God say’s “alright, I made you that way and now I have what you want: The Word made flesh to dwell among you. He that receives Him to them gives He power to become the son’s of God even to them that believe on His name.”

Something in your heart was made to appreciate everlastingness and it will never be satisfied until it get’s eternity and immortality and the promise thereof.” A. W. Tozer, sermon, John pt 1

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray—
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

Psalm 73:25-26 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

THE HUMAN MIND MUST KNEEL BEFORE THE GREAT GOD ALMIGHTY

1 Corinthians 2:9-10a  But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

“Oh my brethren and my sisters, the truth is that God rises transcendentally above all that we can understand and the human mind kneels before the great God Almighty. And what God is can never quite be grasped by the mind but can only be revealed by the Holy Ghost. If the Holy Ghost has not revealed what I’m trying to tell you about God then you only know about God.

A little song says “More about Jesus, more, more about Jesus;” well it isn’t more about Jesus that the heart craves after it’s Jesus Himself. It’s the knowledge of God not the knowledge about God.

Now thank God there are some things the intellect can know about God. Even though we can’t know except by the Holy Ghost about God yet the mind is never better employed than when it is seeking to know this great God Almighty.

What will it be in that day when we no longer depend upon our mind but with our inner eyes of our souls we look without mediation upon the face of God Himself?” A. W. Tozer, sermon, The Self Existence Of God

More about Jesus let me learn,
More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be,
Showing the things of Christ to me.
Eliza E. Hewitt

“How amazing that a human being, corrupted, defiled, doomed, and damned can be forgiven, cleansed, and indwelt by the Spirit of God and become a living vessel of God.”

GOD SEEKS A MAN OF PRAYER

God Seeks A Man Of Prayer

Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

“It’s not people seeking God it’s God seeking a man “The Lord sought a man” and He’s always doing that. Not for a group of men, not for a drama group or a rock group or a singing group of which there are scores around the world. To a great extent Christian entertainment has taken over Evangelical circle.

But God is looking for a man “He saw that there was no man and wondered”, wondered that there was no one to intervene or no intercessor. In the book of Revelations every letter to the seven Churches close with this statement: “He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.” Just one man who will get off the Evangelical treadmill and take time to hear what the Lord would say and all the frantic rush and feverish activity of today in our Churches.” Alan Redpath, God seeks a man of prayer

“The church that is not jealously protected by mighty intercession and sacrificial labors will before long become the abode of every evil bird and the hiding place for unsuspected corruption. The creeping wilderness will soon take over that church that trusts in its own strength and forgets to watch and pray.” A.W. Tozer

I have a Savior, He’s pleading in glory,
A dear loving Savior, though earth-friends be few;
And now He is watching in tenderness o’er me,
But oh, that my Savior were your Savior too!

For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
I’m praying for you.

Isaiah 59:16 “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.”

THE DEEPER LIFE IS TWO THINGS, PT 1

The Deeper Life Is Two Things

Hebrews 6:1a Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;

“Now to break down the deeper life I want to briefly mention that the deeper life is two things that I want to mention, it is more than that though. One is a complete forsaking of the world and the other is turning wholly to the Lord Jesus Christ. That is not only my opinion of it, that is what the bible teaches about it. That is the standard formula that has come down for us from the very early days of the Church. You’ll find it written into the great hymns of the Church. You’ll find it written into the great books of devotion of the Church down the years.

That these two things are necessary from a Christian who would go on and break static condition and become a flowing moving progressive dynamic Christian there must be a complete forsaking of the world and a turning wholly to our Lord Jesus Christ.” A. W. Tozer, sermon, The Deeper Life, pt 1

“Take up thy cross,” the Savior said,
“If thou wouldst My disciple be;
Deny thyself, the world forsake,
And humbly follow after Me.” C.W.E.

Faith Glorifying God

Faith Glorifying God

Romans 4:20 He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

“The one thing that mattered with Abraham is that God had spoken, that God had made a promise. And because it was God who had spoken it, because is was God who had made the promise Abraham said to himself nothing else needs to be considered at all. The one thing that matters is that it God who has spoken. He gave glory to God.
Now to look at it in a negative way, there is nothing as insulting to God as not to believe Him. And that’s the terrible thing about unbelief, it’s an insult to God.
Faith is thus that which always glorifies God. Faith is to believe God simply and solely because He is God. Nothing glorifies God more than this. Nothing is so insulting to God as not to believe that.” Martyn Lloyd-Jones, sermon, Faith Glorifying God

Faith, mighty faith, the promise sees
And looks to that alone.
Laughs at impossibilities
And cries it shall be done!
Charles Wesley

Genuine, authentic faith must be definite and free of doubt. Not simply general in character; not a mere belief in the being, goodness and power of God, but a faith which believes that the things which “he saith, shall come to pass.”  E. M. Bounds, The Neccesity Of Prayer

JESUS IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE

Jesus is alive forevermore

Luke 19:37-40 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,

saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”

He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Jesus Is Alive Forevermore

Jesus is alive forevermore
Jesus is alive forevermore
He died on a rugged tree
Then He rose again you see
Jesus is alive forevermore

Jesus is the Lord forevermore
Jesus is the Lord forevermore
He died on the rugged tree
He overcame the enemy
Jesus is the Lord forevermore

Jesus is the King forevermore
Jesus is the King forevermore
He died on a rugged tree
Now He’s on the throne you see
Jesus is the King forevermore

Old Charismatic Praise Chorus

Revelation 1:18 And the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

THE MAJESTY CO-ETERNAL

The Majesty Co-eternal

Exodus 3:13-14 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

“I’d like to point out here everything that is true of God is true of the three Persons of the Trinity. In the early Church a man named Arius came along and began to teach that Jesus was a good man and the superior man but He wasn’t God. Then the Church had a council and they studied up and gave us the  Athanasian Creed.

Here is what they arrived at and I’ll never get over thanking God for these wonderful learned Godly men. They said:

That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity;
Neither confounding the Persons; nor dividing the Essence.
For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost.
But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one;
the Glory equal, the Majesty co-eternal.
Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost.
The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated.
The Father unlimited; the Son unlimited; and the Holy Ghost unlimited.
The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal.
And yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal.
As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinites, but one uncreated; and one infinite.
So likewise the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty.
And yet they are not three Almighties; but one Almighty.
So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God.
And yet they are not three Gods; but one God.”

Now that’s what we believe my brethern. This to me is just like music. To hear these old Godly serious minded Fathers set this out for the whole ages to feast on. So when I talk about God I’m talking about the three Persons of the Trinity, you see you can’t separate them.” A. W. Tozer, sermon, The Self Existence Of God

To thee, great One in Three,

eternal praises be,

hence evermore!

Thy sovereign majesty

may we in glory see,

and to eternity

love and adore.
